Softball team finishing up a tough season

A disappointing season will come to a close this week for the Golden West College softball team as the Rustlers play their final conference games.

The team will take its 6-29 record (1-17 in the Orange Empire Conference) into a game today (Wednesday) at Santa Ana College, then host Riverside City College on Friday before finishing the 2016 campaign at Saddleback College.

Headed into the Santa Ana game, the Rustlers have lost 10 straight games, their last win coming on March 19 against Valley College of Los Angeles by a score of 5-4.

The batter for the Rustlers has been Taylor Clinkaberry, who hit .419 so far, driving in 21 runs. Alanna Torres was also a standout, batting .298 and slamming two home runs.
