Crime has been at a constant these past two weeks with small petty thefts around the Golden West campus.

Bikes have been a main attraction with two stolen last week in front of the weight room and also the criminal justice building.

Brent Theobald, public safety supervisor, says to take the time to lock up your stuff.  With this tough economy criminals are looking for easy victims that aren’t taking the necessary precautions.

Valuables such as laptops, wallets and credit cards have also been taken on two separate offenses. The female victim that lost her computer and wallet told security officers that she turned around for a couple minutes to talk to some friends, putting her bag on a bench in front of forum, when it was picked up.

Theobald, reminds students to “be vigilant and not leave your valuables around”. These have all been “crimes of opportunity” and with a more watchful eye, can be prevented.
Remember to lock your car, roll up your windows and put away any valuables in your vehicles as a GPS unit and DVD system were reported missing from a car in the south parking lot.

A crime alert was sent out when an attempted burglary occurred in the music department when students left the classroom. With such a riskier location, several accomplices are suspected to be involved as possible lookouts.
