The last day to enroll for courses at Golden West College has come and gone; however, with special permission from the instructor you may still have a chance. Feb.12 is the cutoff day for course enrollment with instructor permission.
Due to major budget cuts to all public colleges in California and some community college districts have cut over 1,000 courses and spring enrollment for Cal State Universities has ceased.
Applications for Cal State schools will only be accepted for fall semester, a trend likely to repeat next year.
Since students everywhere are struggling to keep their full-time student status Coast Community College campuses (including  Orange Coast College, Coastline Community College, and GWC) have had a flood of petitioners.
As of last week Golden West College had a little over 12,781 students enrolled in courses compared to 13,352 in the spring semester of 2009, according to Dr. Wes Bryan, president of GWC.
There are 10 percent fewer courses offered this semester according to Dr. Lois Miller, vice president of instruction..
