ASGWC president Tran quits; Sewell sworn in

Associated Student Council President Lyvyane Tran resigned from office Wednesday, Feb. 17. “Lyvyane was an integral part of our council, her resignation devastated our entire office,” said David Salai, ASGWC Club Consultant.

Steve Sewell took office as the Associated Student Council President Tuesday, Feb 23. Sewell said, “I look forward to filling the ‘heels’ of our previous president Lyvyane Tran.”

Sewell, a 23-year-old student in the design program can now add the title of ASGWC President to his long list of accomplishments at Golden West College. Sewell sits on a handful of campus and district wide committees as a student representative.

Steven spends his free time designing solutions to everyday problems faced by society. One of these solutionsis an E-motion vehicle, an electric powered ve hicle allowin g users to transport themselves from point A to B in an environmentally friendly manner.

Originally elected as club consultant, Sewell filled the vacant position of vice president during the 2009 fall semester. The position of ASGWC Vice President will remain open to all qualified applicants until filled. When asked about his path to becoming student body president Sewell said “I feel like Gerald Ford.”
